9/11 Fallen Firefighter Memorial Ride

Today we had an amazing opportunity to be apart of a motorcycle ride for Americas Fallen Firefighters. The bi-annual Fire Ride was held this year on Sept 11. The proceeds as usual go to Americas Fallen Firefighters. They are building a memorial in Ogden City. I had no idea this ride was going to be as HUGE as it was. Only one word could describe it. AMAZING!A group of the Blue Knights met in Layton and headed out. One of the riders bike broke down so he wasn't able to go.
The ride started at the Harley Davidson Shop in Salt Lake.
Salt Lake County Sheriffs Dept. They were part of the traffic control for the ride

One of the 2 fire trucks that gave us a lights and sirens escort all the way to Ogden.
The front, back, side and other side parking lot of the Harley shop was completely full
South Salt Lake Police Dept also was part of the traffic control

The start of the ride. Dan Evans with Fox 13 also joined us and helped lead part of the ride.

The ride left the shop, went down state street and up and around the Capitol. It was really neat to see all the bikes being led by police and firefighters around our Capitol building.
Just a small glance at how many bikes rode. There were several hundred!
We took the back roads through Bountiful up past the temple, onto 89, into Ogden City. The majority of our ride was through residential areas. It was incredible. Adults, elderly, children, golfers, and all those in between stopped what they were doing to either wave or place their hands over their hearts as we drove past. You cant witness that being an American and not tear at the eye. There was even one woman who was waving a large American flag with her hand placed over her heart as each bike drove by. It really made you feel like you were in one very large parade. At the same time it was very humbling knowing what we were riding for.
The officers, firefighters and EMS who provided traffic control for us did an amazing job! Thank you! We had every single intersection blocked for us by these wonderful people in uniform the entire way!
Coming into Ogden City.
