Fire Ride

Several times a year there is a large motorcycle ride called "The Fire Ride" It mostly is firemen but you dont have to be to ride. Its a large group that gets together and stops at several different fire stations and tours their station an apparatus. This year the money made went to help build Americas Fallen Firefighter Memorial which is going to be built in Utah! The rides are always so much fun. For a small entry fee you get an awesome shirt, a pin and lunch! It was such a blast! I cant wait for the next one this year!.
The ride started at Ogden City Fire Dept. It was neat seeing it lined with motorcycles! There was a huge turn out. They only expected about 150 and there was a lot more.

Next stop was Washington Terrace Fire Dept to see their new station. Its a HUGE improvement from what they had before! They had their station open to let us see inside and had all their aparatus parked outside with the American Flag flying on the ladder.

Leaving the Terrace we had a fire truck lights and sirens escort. They had blocked down several intersections for us. People were coming out of thier houses like crazy standing on the streets waving too us! I felt like a celebrity!! On the way to south weber a man came out of his home waving a huge American Flag.. kinda brings a tear to your eye!
Next we went over the toll road and into South Weber to the South Weber Fire Dept. We parked in a church parking lot across the street.. I bet there's never been so many motorcycles in that church parking lot before :)

After that we headed down Legacy to Farmington Fire Dept. with a fire truck escort leading us out of town. While everyone was there they heard a loud crash. One lady started screaming a kid on a bike had been hit, another person on the street yelled there was a bad accident... Well remembering the group we are with.. everyone took off running towards the sound. Imagine having 200+ bikers all in leather running towards you :) All that had happened was a kid went around the corner way too fast in his car, hit the curb and ruined his wheel and tire.

It really was an amazing sight to see. A ton of bikes lined up in groups of 2's. Its really hard to get a good picture of it but there are bikes further than you can see and the intersection ahead is blocked by police officers so we can get through. Next we are headed to the Holly Refinery Woods Cross Fire Dept
Yes the same refinery that blew up not long ago! They had a speaker telling us all about the refinery and the dept. Had ice cold drinks and were throwing out free t shirts!

The final and last stop of this trip was the Utah Firefighters Museum and Memorial which is pretty much in Grantsville. They have the Utah Fallen Firefighters Memorial there. Also they have a collection of OLD fire engines and ambulances that are independantly owned but stored at the museum there. It was really neat to walk through and see some of the history there. They also were kind enough to serve us lunch there as well.

These pavers here require a $100 tax deductable donation. You can have whatever you'd like written on them. They are placed at the Utah Fallen Firefighter Memorial and actually fund it.

It really was a fantastic ride! It helps that the money goes to a great cause too! Thank you to all who put it together and who participated to make it so much fun! Cant wait for the next one!
