Kennedys ECG

Well Kennedy went in for her 2nd (3rd in her lifetime) echo cardiogram the other day. I worked that night until 6am and her appointment was at 745 am. It worked out perfect. Gave me just enough time to get home and get her ready to go. The nurses are so sweet to her there. She got a bunch more toys this time around. The child life specialist sits and plays with her the whole time until its time for the procedure. Our sweet nurse Jennifer (yes the same one as last time) and Dr Hom were in charge of her again.
When Dr Hom came in Jennifer told him Kennedy was scheduled to be completely sedated but she didn't think it was necessary. He agreed with her and came over to us. He told us that Kennedy behaves just fine for these procedures and since it wasn't her fault that the last tests weren't good enough there is no reason to sedate her and punish her for the techs mistakes :) sweet!! He said we'll see how she does and if we need to we can give her some medicine but there is no reason at all to fully sedate her! Whew! He switched around the people who were supposed to do her test and brought in the best they had in McKay so there wouldn't be a problem.
Kennedy DID FANTASTIC! She layed perfectly still. Didn't move and watched her TV while they took their pictures. The nurses and Dr Hom said she is the best behaved little kid they had ever seen and she behaves better than most adults. They love having her come in because she's so sweet and is such a good little patient :)

Her Dr called us later that day.. She said Dr Rose reviewed her ECG and her valves look great. He thinks its a PFO (the hole in the heart that everyone has) and will just heal with time. He doesn't believe its and ASD ( basically a hole in the septum that allows a little blood through). Dr Judd (the cardiologist who has seen her before and the one we follow up with) said she wants to do an EKG to see if its really a PFO and not an ASD. An ASD will show up on an EKG and a PFO wont.. is that enough letters for ya!! She wants us to follow up with her now instead of waiting another year.. but either way either thing isn't a big deal at all and will heal with time! Our little punkin is healthy!
