Rough Day at the Curfew house

It was a rough day. Joe had to go buy two new batteries for his diesel truck.. OUCH!! Pricey! The day was ok..I had a work meeting. He got home and we were moving some dishes around and one of the big heavy plates landed on my big toe. It landed up and down right on the joint of my toe! KILLED. So we were moving some dishes around to wash them when we noticed the sink was backed up. Great. Joe starts running the hot water and garbage disposal to try and clear it out. No avail. He tells me to check the bathrooms and laundry room to see if the water is coming out some where. The bathrooms were just fine. Went into the laundry room and it was FLOODED. HOT SMELLY NASTY water covering our laundry room floor. Its official we had a big clog :( So we got out our handy pipe snake. By some design flaw and the pipe in the laundry room having some lip on it you can only access it from the kitchen sink. So we snaked it. Nothing. Still clogged. We borrowed my dads snake and were able to hook the two together. Still nothing.
DANG at this point Joe adds some drain o stuff and its nasty nasty nasty. He gets a chemical burn on both his hands and some skin peels off...
At this point we have to sit and wait to see if the drain o stuff works. He goes out to change the batteries on his truck. Its about 930 pm. Its FREEZING cold. That night the low was about 6 degrees. He comes in frozen and cant get a bolt off. Its stuck. He has to go back out and try some more once he thawed. He came in at 1030 just as I'm getting Kennedy ready for bed and says we have to go to WalMart because he had to cut the cable..
He gets his truck fixed at least. The drain isn't draining at all. I swear its accumulating more junk in it! Its clogged some where between the bathroom and laundry room. THANK GOODNESS we could still use the toilet and shower! BUT no using the sink. No using the dishwasher. No doing laundry :( We're starting to get frustrated at this point. We really cant afford/don't want to call a plumber to be charged 100 bucks for 2 min of work that if we had the tools we could do ourselves. We head to bed and Joe goes to work the next day.
It hit me lets call Home Depot and see if they have and electric snake we can rent!! WOO HOO! THEY DO! It cost 50 bucks to rent. We checked it out at 230 and have to have it back by 9am! How perfect is that!
Little life saver right here!!
Running the snake down
NASTY stuff coming out...

Less than 5 min of work including the time to took to run the snake down the clog is unclogged and we can run water!! WOO HOO! And it cost WAY less than having to call a plumber!!

Eeww, NOT FUN! My kitchen and laundry room is plugged up too. Not sure if it's frozen or clogged yet. Trying DrainO tonight (and heeding the chemical burn warning!) but if that doesn't work, i'll probably have to call a plumber to come figure it out. Annoying. Meanwhile, my dishes and laundry are stacking up QUICK!
